Astra Group (Wallpaper Design)

A wallpaper design submitted for the COLOR_IT competition — launched by Astra Group (a leading developer of infrastructure software) in partnership with Dprofile — with the goal of inspiring millions of Astra Linux users to work and create.

Challenge

The competition theme was "Big Dream", and the nomination "Unroll the Wallpaper" called for pure illustration. The challenge was to create a design that not only serves as a functional desktop background but also tells a compelling visual story — one that resonates with the brand's identity, inspires creativity, and reflects the ambition of dreaming big.

Results

I developed two wallpaper designs, each offering a unique visual metaphor for the brand and the theme. Here's what I delivered:

Concept 1 — Astra as the Sun

The large Astra Group logo is not just placed in the center — it becomes the dominant force of the entire composition, a kind of Sun in the Solar System. As the Sun is one of the stars in our galaxy (the Milky Way) and the only star in the Solar System, this creates a direct reference to the company's name — Astra (from Latin astra — "star"). Just as the Sun's gravity orders the movement of planets, Astra unites and protects all user processes. The wallpaper becomes a window into a world without boundaries — an infinite space for creativity and technological breakthroughs under Astra's protection. Space serves as the perfect metaphor for the "Big Dream" — representing something grand and seemingly unattainable, now being conquered through technology. Astra, in this story, acts as the tool, the guide, and the guarantor of security on this journey.

Concept 2 — The All-Seeing Eye of Digital Security

The second concept represents the all-seeing eye of digital security — symbolizing that Astra sees and anticipates threats in the vast digital space. The pixels represent elements of code and data that the system analyzes, while the constellations represent the connection schemas and algorithms that form a well-tuned system. On the other hand, this is the eye of a dreamer looking into the future — a vision of those who can see deeper and dream bolder, using technology as their primary tool. In the era of Big Data, simply seeing data is not enough. One must be able to see the "patterns" within it. The eye — made of pixel-stars — embodies this gift: the ability to find meaning in chaos, to see constellations of patterns where others see only random points. Astra provides the tools for such deep analysis, transforming information into knowledge.
