Kaliningrad Posters Collection

A series of 8 posters inspired by a journey to Kaliningrad, reinterpreting Bauhaus aesthetics through a contemporary lens.

Challenge

The goal was to capture the essence of Kaliningrad without literal illustration — using Bauhaus principles as a starting point while reimagining them for a modern audience. Strict geometric forms, contrasting colour planes, and bold typography had to serve as powerful tools for abstract storytelling. The challenge was to distill the city's identity into visual language that feels both timeless and fresh, avoiding clichés while maintaining emotional resonance. Each poster needed to stand on its own while forming a cohesive series.

Results

I created a collection of posters that translate the spirit of Kaliningrad into pure visual poetry. Here's what I delivered:

• 8 distinct posters — Each exploring a different compositional approach, from connected rectangles and glyphs to constellation-like dots forming figures and bodies

• Bold abstract visual language — Using techniques such as negative space, geometric forms for non-horizontal typography, contour shapes, and simple geometric elements to evoke the city's character without literal representation

• Contemporary Bauhaus reinterpretation — Strict geometry, contrast colour planes, and expressive typography reimagined for a modern audience, creating a cohesive series that feels both architectural and poetic
